In a recently re-published interview from 2005, Miyamoto stated that there weren’t any strict guidelines or definitions when it came to Mario lore.

“I think it was fortuitous that we mario 1 up plush didn’t put any restrictions on Mario as a character (…) Normally when you create a character and present him to the world, all the details get filed in: what’s his favourite colour? what kind of food does he like to eat? But aside from the fact that he’s about 24-25 years old, we didn’t define anything else.”

Though Mario has appeared in games for over 30 years, he’s apparently still young enough to stay on his parents’ health mario 1 up plush insurance. That’s probably a good thing, since the Mushroom Kingdom benefits package is mostly comprised of cake and kisses on the cheek.

“Yoshi” isn’t Yoshi’s full name

There are a lot of things we just sort of accept about Yoshi. For one, the fact that he hatches fully-formed out of the egg, complete with a built-in saddle. That, and we just sort of pretend every dinosaur that comes out of a polka-dotted egg is named “Yoshi,” even if that was the name of the guy mario 1 up plush that got dumped in a bottomless pit two levels back. We can ignore these existential questions because hey, it’s a video game.

No one was really asking what Yoshi’s full name was, but apparently someone at Nintendo thought that was a more important issue to address than a dinosaur being born with shoes. An internal character guide unearthed by Blake Harris revealed something startling about Yoshi.

So, Yoshi’s full name is… “T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas.” The T. is left ambiguous, though we could guess it stands for “Transportation” or “Tyrannosaurus” or “Travis.”

Supercade was the first Super Mario cartoon

Think Super Mario Bros Super Show or an obscure anime film are the first Mario cartoons? Wrong, it was the forgotten Saturday morning treat Supercade, a show that featured cartoons based on arcade hits including Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Junior. Pretty much out of print, you can find some of the episodes on that internet repository known as YouTube.

Mario was considered for Sega All-Stars Racing

After Sega did Nintendo the favor of lending Sonic to Super Smash Bros Brawl, its only fair that Nintendo would pay Sega mario 1 up plush back with a Mario cameo. Outside of the Olympic games the two shared, it hasnt happened, though it almost did in the first Sega All-Stars Racing for Wii. As revealed in an interview Mario was considered for the mascot racer, but was ultimately scrapped in an effort to make the Olympic titles more unique. In a strange turn of events, former N64 stars Banjo and Kazooie did end up in the 360 version of the game.

Mario and Luigi are twins that were born in the Mushroom Kingdom

The Mario cartoons of the 90s may have given the impression that Mario and Luigi are from New York City, but at far as Nintendo is concerned, the brothers were born in the Mushroom Kingdom. As seen at the end of Yoshi’s Island, a stork delivers the newborns to a toadstool house similar to the ones that cover the Princess Peach’s realm. Also, we’d still call Mario the older brother, since he left his bundle first.

The Warp Whistle in Super Mario 3 is from Legend of Zelda

For many players, the Warp Whisltes hidden throughout Super Mario Bros 3 was their only hope for finishing the game in mario 1 up plush one sitting. But the handy travel accessories weren’t a Mario original, and instead the instrument was borrowed from the first Legend of Zelda. The distinct musical notes played by the whistle are even the same.

Kamek was almost in Mario Kart 64

Kamek, Bowser’s right hand Koopa and head of the Magikoopas, has appeared in many Mario titles, but rarely as a playable option. But as early screenshots of Mario Kart 64 prove, they almost appeared in the classic racer. For unexplained reasons, he was replaced by Donkey Kong.

Luigi’s Mansion was once planned as a 3D game

Luigi’s Mansion getting a long-overdue sequel on the 3DS was quite a surprise, but the reasoning for it caused an even mario 1 up plush bigger shock. The sequel came about after original Luigi’s Mansion stages were rebuilt on the handheld to test out the 3D. Why was that game chosen to test the new feature? Because the GameCube was originally intended to have optional 3D visuals and Luigi’s Mansion was developed with those capabilities in mind. The functional 3D version never left testing, but now Luigi can reach his full graphical potential in the sequel.

Mario was once a bad guy

In Mario’s second ever gaming appearance, Donkey Kong Junior, the mustachioed star did something he’s never done since: played the bad guy. DK’s son tries his best to free him in mario 1 up plush spite of Mario’s deadly traps and utter disregard for Junior’s life. After a recurring role in X-Force and two self-titled miniseries, Deadpool finally got his own ongoing series in 1997 deadpool plush toy and writer Joe Kelly leant into Wade Wilson’s parody roots hard, satirizing all the gritty heroes and anti-heroes that were very popular at the time.

Wade Wilson’s superhuman abilities come from his time in the Weapon X program, the same shady bunch responsible for deadpool plush toy Wolverine. Wade was imbued with a powerful regenerative healing factor derived from Logan, albeit significantly stronger.

Strictly speaking, mutants are born with their abilities, although the age at which these powers activate varies. Wade is most likely a mutate, an individual who got their powers via other external means be they accidental or deliberate.

Deadpool tends to refer to himself deadpool plush toy as a mutant, but only because it annoys the X-Men, who treat the term with reverence.

We say he’s “most likely” a mutate because there are a few things that indicate otherwise. deadpool plush toy

Mr. Sinister refers to Deadpool as a mutant during a sit-down barbecue, but Wade brushes it off. Then there’s Deadpool vs. Thanos #2, where Rocket Raccoon’s computer read-out identifies Wade as a mutant.

Whether these are down to different writers exercising their artistic licenses, sloppy continuity or hints that Wade may have been born awesome remains up for debate, but considering what we have, it’s probably safer to call him a mutate in lieu of harder evidence.

Movie Deadpool, on the other hand, is even more confusing.

The X-Men: Origins version definitely was, but the actual good movie version is a question mark, as Ajax’s torture lab is designed to bring out any latent mutant genes. Wade survives the process, so it could be argued that he can hang with the X-Men, at least on a genetic level. deadpool plush toy

Since then, Deadpool has been the subject of some seriously creative and unusual storylines. Wade’s self awareness, endless quips, twisted sense of humor and variety of powers enabled writers to let their ideas run riot and tell stories they simply couldn’t with the majority of the Marvel universe.
Spidey’s influence didn’t just extend to the mask and the red get-up, though. Liefeld wanted to make Deadpool a funny, quippy character because he believed that by the time the ’90s had rolled around, the new version of Spider-Man had lost his humor somewhat.

To quote Liefeld, “Spider-Man in 1990 was a depressed, married guy” and it’s hard to argue.

The ’90s had brought in a wave of brooding grittiness that most comics rushed to get in on. Peter Parker had inherited the iconic black symbiote suit and Kraven had just completed his tragic last hunt. deadpool plush toy

Liefeld wanted to create a character who had the energy, humor, and abandon of the 1960s Spider-Man and brought it to Wade Wilson.

“The Spider-Man I grew up with would make fun of you or punch you in the face and make small cracks. That was the entire intent with Deadpool,” he said.

The Merc with the Mouth soon became a fan-favorite character and started appearing everywhere, crossing over and teaming up with pretty much every character and team you could think of. deadpool plush toy figma hulk

Outside of the comics, the character has enjoyed mainstream popularity thanks to Ryan Reynolds pulling on the mask and playing the role he was apparently born to play on the big screen.

In April 2017, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen were cast to play Timon and Pumbaa respectively.[15] In July 2017, John Oliver was cast as Zazu.[16] In August 2017, Alfre Woodard and John Kani were lion king teddy bear announced to play Sarabi and Rafiki, respectively.

  1. It took over three years to animate the wildebeest stampede scene. The footage lasts approximately two and a half minutes.

  1. It was gonna be way more heavy. In one of the earlier treatments of the film, the story was to be about a war between lions and baboons, with Rafiki as a cheetah and Scar as the leader of the baboons. The initial drafts of the script were light on the laughs and far more serious. Thankfully, they lightened it up.
  2. It wasn’t always a musical. When the film was first conceived, they intended that it would have more of a documentary vibe. It was to be way more realistic, without any musical numbers. Thankfully, after the urging of the lyricist Tim Rice (of Aladdin fame), they hired the one and only Elton John to write the songs, and the next thing you know, we have singing hyenas and warthogs.
  3. The Lion King + ABBA: Yeah, that almost happened. Before they approached Elton John, Tim Rice had reached out to the Swedish super group ABBA (Rice had worked with them on the concept album Chess), but they were working on an opera, of all things, and didn’t take the job.
  4. Hello, Bamblet! The writers lion king teddy bear of the film felt that it was a mash-up of the narratives from Bambi and Hamlet, so they’d privately refer to the film as Bamblet. While Bamblet does have a certain ring to it, we’re glad they stuck with The Lion King.
  1. ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ was originally scrapped from the final cut, and it was only when Elton John saw the movie a few weeks before the release that the Oscar-winning song was added again.
  2. The Lion King was made at the same time as Pocahontas, and the more talented animators were employed on the latter because they thought it would be more successful.
  1. It was reported at the time that Disney made $1billion from The Lion King merchandise in 1994. lion king teddy bear That’s A LOT of Simba cuddly toys.
  2. Scar and Mufasa were not related in early scripts, but writers thought it would be a more engaging and interesting story if they were brothers.
  3. Iconic track ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’ was originally intended as a song for Mufasa called ‘To Be King’. When they realise it didn’t suit James’s voice, they reworked it.
  4. Disney originally wanted the hyenas, Banzai and Shenzi, to be voiced by Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. When Tommy was unavailable, they cast Whoopi Goldberg instead.
  5. The movie’s plot is loosely based on Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and Disney are renowned for taking inspiration from iconic stores for their animations.

WarioWare is a collection of short, simple games, called “microgames,” presented in quick succession. wario plush toy Each of the microgames lasts about three to five seconds and failing to complete it costs the player a life. The games may seem simple; for instance, a microgame may require the player to pop a balloon, pick a nose, zap a spaceship, or make Wario collect coins in a maze styled after those in Pac-Man. The numerous microgames are linked together randomly and steadily increase in speed and difficulty as the player progresses. On each level, players are allowed four losses only. Also frequently appearing are boss games, which are considerably longer and more complex than the other stages; upon completing these, the player can regain a lost life (with a maximum of four). wario plush toy In addition to the microgame stages, WarioWare games also feature unlockable extra modes and “full” minigames.

The plots of these games center on Wario, his company WarioWare, Inc., and his friends in Diamond City who develop microgames for his company. Because of his greed, Wario usually refuses to pay his friends, despite the high success of the games. Most games in the series include short stories in the form of cutscenes dedicated to each of the developers, telling about their adventures or everyday lives. These cutscenes are split into two parts, the first one shown wario plush toy before the developer’s respective microgame stage, and the latter part appearing after the player beats the stage.

When Nintendo launched the Game Boy handheld system in 1989, Gunpei Yokoi’s Super Mario Land launched with it. Mario’s 8-bit adventure was so successful that three years later, a sequel arrived. Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins takes place directly after the first game, when Mario comes home after defeating the evil alien Tatanga. When he arrives, wario plush toy he discovers that his castle has been taken over by his antagonistic, greedy counterpart, Wario, and he must retrieve the 6 Golden Coins hidden around the land to get his home back, while Tatanga’s appearance as a boss in one of the levels provided possible hints that Wario could have been behind the events of the original Super Mario Land. In the final showdown, Wario was revealed to look very much like Mario himself, except fatter, more muscular, slightly shorter, and with a big, bulbous nose that had a jagged, pointy mustache jutting out of it. In a three-part battle, Wario uses the same power-ups that Mario had access to throughout the game, and adds his own abilities to the mix. Wario charges at his opponent with his shoulder, and crashes to the floor butt first, which become staple moves for the character in future games. When conquered by wario plush toy Mario, he reverted to a “tiny” form, and escaped out the window to search for better treasures. princess peach figure

And search for them he did, as he landed a starring role in the third game in the series, Wario Land:. It takes place directly after Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, in which Wario sets out to earn as much gold as humanly possible, so he can buy his own castle and rub it in Mario’s face. This game played differently than the first two games, because Wario brought his own style with him. Instead of deploying acrobatics like, Wario relied on his brute strength, and the ability to sport various hats that gave him different wario plush toy powers, such as a dragon hat that spewed fire. He also gained his own villain in this adventure, the equally greedy Captain Syrup, who captured a Genie to use for her own selfish purposes. By the end of the quest, Wario gives both Syrup and the Genie a sound thrashing, and pays the Genie to grant him his castle.

After antagonizing and his friends yet again in games such as Wario’s Woods and Mario & Wario, Wario continued to have three more adventures on various Game Boy platforms. In Wario Land II, Wario experiences a case of bad karma when Captain Syrup kicks him out of his own castle and steals it. Wario Land 3 involves Wario doing his first unselfish deed, saving wario plush toy the inhabitants of a music box from the devious Rudy the Clown – on the condition that he gets to keep all the treasure that he earned along the way. In Wario Land 4 he does what Mario had been doing for the last decade beforehand and rescues a princess of his own (Princess Shokora). Through these games, Wario eventually evolved from the classification of “villain” and earned the title of “anti-hero”, a title he still holds to this day.

wario action figure

After all these platforming escapades, Wario, now sporting biker gear as opposed to a yellow and purple version of Mario’s duds, notices the boom of the video game industry, and decides to take advantage of this craze by forming his own game company. Due to his short attention span, instead of creating a single game of reasonable length, he opts to make over two hundred games, wario plush toy each of them a mere five seconds long. Too short to even be called “minigames”, they were dubbed “microgames”. Finally, since he was too lazy to make all these games himself, he hires a handful of his fellow residents of Diamond City to do his work for him, among them the feisty multi-talented Mona, and the Nintendo superfan 9-Volt. Thus, the WarioWare franchise was born.

Wario has also made appearances in a great number of Mario spin-offs, including the Mario Kart and Mario Party games, as well as a large number of Mario sports titles. In these titles, Wario is no longer evil, but more of a bumbling comic relief. His partner-in-crime bent on bothering Mario’s brother, Luigi, is soon revealed, being named Waluigi. Like Donkey Kong, Wario also appeared as a baby in Yoshi’s Island DS, where it is revealed that Wario did not have a true home to be returned to by the stork, which may explain his greedy personality and wario plush toy his jealousy towards Mario. However, Wario did team up with Mario and Luigi in Super Mario 64 DS, the DS remake of the iconic N64 launch title, where he made his only playable appearance in the Super Mario series.

Due to Wario’s popularity, he was one of the newcomers in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Instead of being added as yet another Mario character, Wario enters the arena representing his own Wario franchise.

WarioWare: Twisted!, known as Turning Made in Wario in Japan, has its microgames take advantage of the Game Boy Advance’s rotation sensor and rumble feature. Its plot centers around Wario and one of wario plush toy his friends inventing a GBA-like handheld system that only reacts when tilted around. It was the first game in the series to organize microgames around the control scheme rather than around specific aesthetic styles. This game was not released in Europe because the gyro sensor was erroneously believed to contain mercury.

WarioWare: Smooth Moves, known in Japan as Dancing Made in Wario, features microgames that rely on the wario plush toy Wii’s motion controls. Gameplay requires the player to hold the Wii Remote (referred to in-game as the “Form Baton”) in different positions. After the player completes all of the single-player stages, the game unlocks a multiplayer mode, in which only one Wii Remote is used, with up to 12 players sharing and taking turns with it after each microgame is completed.
